Kestrel Capital welcomes investment from IK Partners

(Dublin/London, 29 May 2025) Kestrel Capital, the Dublin-based independent wealth management and financial planning firm, announced an investment from IK Partners to support the next phase of its growth.

Founded in 2015, Kestrel provides bespoke investment management and financial planning services to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices, corporations, charities, foundations and retirement plans. At the time of the transaction, the firm had grown assets under management to more than €1 billion and had established itself as one of Ireland’s leading independent MiFID-regulated wealth managers.

IK Partners invested through its dedicated Development Capital strategy, alongside Kestrel’s existing owners, who remained invested in the business and continued to lead its development. The transaction represented IK Partners’ first platform investment in Ireland.

The partnership is intended to support Kestrel’s continued growth through investment in its people, service offering and operational infrastructure, while also creating capacity for selective complementary acquisitions in a fragmented Irish wealth management market.

John Crowe, Founder and CEO of Kestrel Capital, said: “This investment from IK marks an important milestone in the development of Kestrel as we seek to further strengthen our position in the Irish Wealth Management sector. With the expertise and experience brought by the IK team, we will be able to capitalise on the market opportunity and pursue a growth strategy in an industry that is poised for consolidation.

We would like to thank Daniel and the team at London-based M&A specialists Dyer Baade & Company, who served as lead adviser on this transaction. Their deep industry knowledge and strong relationships with the Private Equity community were instrumental in delivering a highly successful process.”

Simon May, Partner at IK Partners and Adviser to the IK Small Cap III Fund, added: “We have been very impressed with Kestrel’s achievements since inception. Its rapid growth is a testament to the hard work of John and his team in building a high-quality, client-centric business. We look forward to supporting the management team in the next chapter of Kestrel’s development.”

Dr Daniel Baade, CEO of Dyer Baade & Company and lead adviser to Kestrel, said: “We were delighted to advise the shareholders of Kestrel Capital on this important transaction. Kestrel has built a high-quality independent wealth management business with a differentiated proposition and strong growth prospects. IK’s investment provides a strong platform for the next stage of the firm’s development and represents another important milestone in the evolution of the Irish wealth management market.”

Update: The investment completed in November 2025
